I do my best to photograph what I see. I’m not conceptual, I’m interested in feeling, color, composition, and light. And my intent is to be able to recreate that; it’s straightforward, not complicated.
My work has been influenced by Sally Mann, Paul Strand, Helen Levitt, Alfred Stieglitz, Irving Penn, Keith Carter, Mark Rothko, Milton Avery and more. It’s also been influenced by growing up in Brooklyn, spending time on Prince Edward Island, coming from a family of artists, traveling, life.
I received my BA from Bard College in Art History. Then after working as a graphic designer, I attended Art Center College of Design for photography.
I live in Seattle, WA with my husband and son. I’m currently working on a photo memoir of my childhood home in Brooklyn.
I photograph my family a lot.
